- - - - Students could encourage others to behave and get through the task because everyone would know that after this task we are going to move on to a more fun one.
        
        If students undesirable behavior persists use non-verbal cues to let the students know they are behaving inappropriately.
        
        Students will be given to chance to correct their behavior without causing a commotion or receiving a punishment.
        
        If poor behavior presists, take the student aside after class and talk with them about their behavior and what is expected of them.
        
        This should help students to understand that you are very serious about this behavior and that it is not acceptable.

- - - - Listening to music is good for everyone. It is a little bit fun and it encourages students to work quietly. Many of my students take paino classes and they really enjoy listening to piano music and it helps get them in the zone when they are doing creative work. It is also something that my sad student can talk about and relate with her peers on.
        
        Praise students frequently.
        
        Frequent praise is good for everyone. All students want to be acknowledged for their hard work and recognized for their successes. Students who struggle with depression or sadness may feel like nobody is seeing their good qualities and would particularly appreciate praise.
        
        If students are crying and unable to explain what is wrong, call in a teacher who speaks their native language so that they can explain the problem in their mother tongue.
        
        This applies to me as an ESL teacher, but if you are in a majority English speaking classroom and your student is an English Language Learner (ELL) than it may be necessary to bring in an interpreter so get to the bottom of what the problem is.
        
        If your efforts in the classroom have not been successful, call and talk with a partent about the problem and get their opinion about what the best course of action should be from here.
