Sophie is a 1st-grade student. Her areas of need include increasing independence in use of classroom materials, including writing, independence of travel on the bus, increasing written expression, participation in PE, independence at mealtime. Based on teacher input, OT input, special education needs, Sophie requires assistance in all areas of need. Sophie is able to participate in PE with adaptive supports, She is able to write with a slant board and pencil grips. Sophie needs to continue to improve upon her finger strength and dexterity, including using his fingers in isolation as needed for writing and manipulating classroom materials. The TVI has conferred with the OT about strategies. A list of strategies will be given to the parents to reinforce this at home. This should improve with development and continued practice with writing.Essential accommodations to support performance include a communciation device.
