when i first read the title (caged bird) i thought that the poem was about a bird locked up in a cage and was very lonely and never got to get out of its cage and its owner bought it as a design in his house or wherever the owner is staying.

in my opinion i liked the poem because it talks about freedom and how you need to express your voice so you can be heard and the bird wants to be free.

Yes, I think the poem has a purpose to tell the audience that birds have feelings too they also want to be free like humans and go outside to play around.
