Closed skills take place mostly in controlled environments that are predictable and the performer knows what to do and when the skills tend to be self paced.
internally paced skills: The performer controls the rate at which the skill is executed, These skills are usually closed skills
Externally paced skills: The environment which may include opponents. controlling the rate of which the person must execute the skill
Discrete skills: well-defined actions that have a clear beginning and end. They are single and specific skills which make up actions involved in variety of sports such as hitting and throwing Serial Skills are when discrete skills are chained together.
Continuous skills have no obvious beginning or end. The end of one cycle of movements and then the beginning of the next the skill is repeated as a chain or cycle.
Simple skill is straight forward, requires little concentration and cognitive ability.
A complex skill involves a large attention span because they are complicated and are practiced in training repeatedly to make it easier to perform in a competition.
