Khadirah Hobbs' Ideal Job -
Multiple Business Owner
https…
Khadirah @ Work
- Describe your work ethic.
I focus on working hard and working smart. I am very process and operations-minded so figuring out how to make sense of chaos can be where I thrive. I love limitations because I work well in them, especially when they are acknowledged. I'll make anything work
- What do you value in a job position?
For me, I don't value a job position. I only value ownership for me. I only plan to be an employee for the next few years as I get rid of my student loans and build myself.Until then, jobs are only a means-to-an-end
- Does it seem that the type of work you will be doing in your career fits your personality type?
I believe it does. I think if I had no motivation and ambition to see more from myself, I could be an employee, no big deal. But I have a grander vision for myself so a career as a business owner is very fitting
- What part does honesty, integrity, or a code of ethics play in the performance of your type of work?
Honesty, integrity, and codes of ethics have more to do with life than simply a work environment. So to answer the question---it's everything. The lack of honesty is why people meet their downfall sooner than they thought. Truth always wins in the end and I prefer for my word to be golden. My word is bond and bond is life and I'd rather give my life before my word shall fail.If your word means nothing than what do you really have?
Compensation
- What is the average salary for this job title in that geographic area?
Via the link below, the average salary for a business owner in Michigan is about $70,00 but really this number could increase many folds depending on the business itself: https://www.payscale.com/research/US/Job=Small_Business_Owner/Salary
- What is the median rent for a two‐bedroom apartment in the area?
$1200~
- Does it state what benefits are offered with this position? Medical? Dental? Vision? 401K? Profit Sharing?
Nope. Business owners have to cover and consider that all on their own
- What is the cost of living in the area of the position?
I want to move from Toledo, OH to Detroit, MI so the cost of living in Detroit is slightly higher than Toledo.A salary of $50,000 would need to increase to $60,000 per the link below and it also says that Detroit, Michigan is 21.8% more expensive than Toledo, Ohiohttps://www.bestplaces.net/cost-of-living/toledo-oh/detroit-mi/50000
- What is the average monthly cost of food & drink in the city or area you will be living? Average monthly cost in Detroit would likely be $50 to $75 per month for one person
-
Long Term Goals
- What plans do you have, once you have a steady salary or income, to contribute to your healthy financial future?
I plan to invest in stocks, Roth IRA for retirement, and real estate as well as my other businesses to secure my financial future. It will be a good idea to put my money into healthy and long-term financial vehicles for not only myself but my future children. Obviously I will also be building up my own savings accounts for different purposes
- What are your long term financial goals?
My long term financial goals are to retire my parents and build a 20 acre estate in Detroit where they can live out their retirement comfortably. I also plan to move my dad's and mom's families (brother, sisters, aunt) onto the estate as well
- What is the salary range for management positions in your industry?
As stated prior, I have no intentions on being an employee for longer than a few years so a management salary doesn't exactly relate here
Life-Long Learner
- How are you anticipating to continue to educate yourself about your industry after graduation? I will continue to educate myself via online educational courses like I have been while at college. I will also attend conferences and workshops that will keep me abreast of new developments in marketing and eCommerce
- What are the trends within your industry right now?
Some trends of the eCommerce business industry include the rise of advertising costs from Facebook and Google. Ads are getting more expensive which means it takes a lot more than just a good ad to get people to convert, so that's been something I'm dealing with
- Is there any anticipated growth or job outlook in your industry? If so, in what areas?
Small businesses and entrepreneurs are still at an all time low but slowly there are more companies getting built with the ease of information gathering from the internet
- Thinking about your 5-10 year career plan, do you need to think about pursuing an additional degree to accomplish what you want to within your industry? What would you study if you pursued a Masters degree, another Bachelor’s degree or completed a certification?
I would absolutely NOT return to college for any degree. I can really learn what I need to from online or by reaching out to knowledgeable individuals directly and/or hire them to coach and consult with me directly. I wouldn't go back and pursue a Masters any way
