Patterns
Unilateral (hemiplegia): often due to infarct; spastic/dystonic tone, arm>leg, may have visual field defect, learning difficulties, seizures
Bilateral (diplegia): often due to prematurity; legs>arms, toe walking and leg scissoring; often good cognition and feeding
Bilateral (quadriplegia); damage to developing brain; arm and leg involvement; often learning difficulties, feeding problems, vision/hearing, seizures
Dyskinetic: often hypoxia/kernicterus, abnormal movements, feeding difficulties, cognition may be preserved, dependent for ADLs
