The Lymphatic/Immune System
Amarilis Ramos Period 2
Main function of Lymphatic &Immune System
Lymphatic :
help get rid of body toxins waste and other unwanted materials
Immune:
organs that work together to protect the body from danger
Anatomy of the Lympathic :
Nodes-
Axillary nodes-Group of lymph nodes located in the region that filtratrate lymph
Malt Spleen-help the body prevent infections by organism that have mucosal surface
Vessels-they are used to pick up fluid that leak into your tissues from your blood stream and return it to circulatory system
Thymus-help to produce hormones that help with develop t cells an important white cell
Innate/natural Immune defenses
internal defenses:Natural killer cells
natural -Earwax ,tears,membranes
Innate :skin,hair,acid,enzymes
Adaptive /acquired immune defenses
Adaptive Cells:
Memory resources
Cell-mediated immune response
Acquired -lymphocytes that act as a cell response
Humoral vs Cellular Responce
Cellular Responce-B cells into plasma cells that produce and secrete antibodies to a specific antigen.
Humoral immune system deals with antigens from pathogens that are freely circulating, or outside the infected cells.
Antigens&Antibodies:
Antibody-protein produced in response to antigen
Antigen-absorbs and transports fatty acids and fats
Antibodies-t cells and B cells
T cells circulate blood into nodes while b cells remain in bone and help the movement into the circulatory system
Disorders of the immune system:
Rheumatoid arthritis -An inflammatory disorder affecting joints in the arms and feet
HIV-AIDS that interfere with the body's ability to fight infections.
Immune Deficiency-a disease that causes a decrease in the body ability to fight invaders
