Ideal Job (https://hearst.referrals.selectminds.com/jobs/production…
You at Work
I have a very strong work ethic. I believe that it's important to work hard and put a lot of thought and care into everything that you do. Each time I sit down to work on something, I try to make sure that I put my best work forth.
I value freedom, flexibility and variability in a job position. I would really prefer that I am not working on the same project or type of project continuously. I would like the freedom to change up my design style to help introduce new styles and keep up with modern trends. Overall, I just do not want to grow bored with what I'm doing and I would like a position that allows me to grow as a designer.
According to a number of personality tests that I have taken previously, I am an INFJ. This means that I prefer having a job that I find meaning in and I crave creativity. INFJs prefer to have jobs in expressive fields or ones in which they can connect with others. However, INFJs are not fans of the corporate structure and often times either seek leadership roles or start their own practice. I think a designer fits with my personality type and its career tendencies. It is a creative field that will hopefully allow me to express myself. In addition, there is always the option that I could do freelance work or start my own https://www.16personalities.com/infj-careers
This comes into play during the design part, you have to make sure that you are not simply copying somebody else's work. You can get inspired by elements of another design, but you can't take somebody else's design and claim that it's your own. In addition, if any photographs or copy are used the original source has to be sited if applicable.
Long Term Goals
In order to ensure a financially stable future, I plan to sign up for both a 401(k) account and a Roth IRA. I know after I start making more money I will be tempted to increase my lifestyle spending. However, I am going to try to avoid making unnecessary purchases just because more money is available. I would also like to put around 15-20% of my paychecks in a savings account each month if possible.
I would like to get a newer car soon after graduation if possible. I plan to rent for a couple of years, but eventually I would like to put a down payment on a house. I would like to invest, but I'm not exactly sure how to go about that yet, I will have to ask a financial advisor. I'd also like to set aside a portion of money for traveling.

Life Long Learner
I plan to subscribe to specialized trade magazines and attend talks and conferences whenever possible. I've found that the Internet has been where I go to for inspiration and trend updates currently. There are a lot of blogs about design and Pinterest is always good for a quick browse.
There are a couple of trends that have been spotted so far in 2019. One is pops of bright color even in minimalist designs. There has been typographic focal points and increased usage of less polished stock images. https://venngage.com/blog/graphic-design-trends/
It's expected that the graphic design field will grow 5% through 2026 which is a little slower than average. https://www.allartschools.com/graphic-design/graphic-design-job-outlook/
I don't think I necessarily have to pursue another Bachelor's or a Masters degree. However, I am considering pursuing a Masters degree in Visual Communication. If I got another Bachelor's degree it would be in Graphic Design or Marketing as these are the areas most relevant to my interests. In the future if I wanted to freelance I would consider getting a Project Management Professional certification.
