Plasma makes up 55% of our blood and consists of water which serves as a solvent. It also contains Ions(blood electrolytes)—“Sodium, Potassium, Calcium, Magnesium, Chloride, and Bicarbonate”— Functions: Osmotic balance, pH buffering, and regulation of membrane permeability.
Plasma proteins are also found within plasma such as, “Albumin (aids with Osmotic balance, pH buffering), Immunoglobulins (aids with defense), Apolipoproteins (aids in lipid transport), and Fibrinogen (Clotting)
