Feline IBD vs Canine IBD
In cats, IBD cna progress to small cell lymphoma; but this is very rare in dogs.
Many cats w/ small intestinal IBD primarily show vomiting(can have diarrhea and weight loss too, but many just have vomiting).

PLE can occur in cats, but it is usually by lymphoma or very severe IBD.
Lymphangiectasia, which is main cause of PLE in dogs, is very rare in cats.

Feline IBD 치료 tips
IBD is when the inflammation is so severe that we need to use steroids in addition to other therapy. Then we typically first use elimination diet and metronidazole plus steroids.

Fecal Biomarkers
Calprotectin
활성화된 대식세포, 호중구에서 방출되며 염증이 생기면 많이 나오는 단백질(염증이 없어도 나타날 수 있음)
sensitivity가 높지 않으나 specimen에 따라 어디 문제인지 알 수 있음. 즉, rule-out하기에 좋음.
calprotectin이 높다고 무조건 IBD는 아님. 다만, 치료만 해볼 것인가 혹은 내시경, 조직검사를 할 것인가를 결정하는데 도움을 줌.
