What is dementia?
Dementia is an umbrella term that refers to a progressive failure of many cerebral functions not caused by an impaired level of consciousness.
Dementia is a major neurodegenerative condition that slowly affects the ability of the person to function normally. It is a progressive disease.

Pathophysiology
Essentially, progressive dementia produce nerve cell degeneration, brain atrophy and hypo perfusion of particular areas of the brain, such as parietal and temporal lobes.
Dementia effects people differently, depending on the area of the brain that is effected.
