Physics
Theme 1:General Physics
Chapter 4: Mass, Weight and Density
Mass is property of a body that does not change with its location or shape. The mass of a body depends on the number and composition of atoms and molecules that make up the body.
W=mg, W= weight, m= mass of the object, g= gravitational field strength
Inertia of an object refers to the reluctnace of the object to change its state of rest or motion, due to its mass.
p=m/V , p=density, m = mass of the object, V = volume of the object

Chapter 6: Energy, work and Power
-
-
-
Work done by a constant force on an object is the product of the force and the distance moved by the object in the direction of the force.
W = F x s, W = workdone by constand force, F = constand force, s = distance moved by the object in the direction of the force
K.E. = 1/2 m v2 , E= kinectic energy, v = speed of the body, m = mass of the body
E = mgh, E = gravitational potential energy , m= mass, g = gravitational field strength, h= height

Chapter 10: Light
First law of reflection states that the incident ray,reflected ray and the normal at the point of incidence all lie in the same place
Second law of reflection states that the angle of incidence i is equal to the angle of reflection r ( i = r)
n = c/v , c = speed of light in vacuum, v = speed of light in the medium
n = sin i/ sin r , i = angle of incidence in vacuum , r = angle of refraction in the medium
Critical angle c is defined as the angle of incidence in an optically denser medium for which the angle of refraction in the optically less dense medium is 90 degree
Total internal refraction is the complete reflection of a light ray inside an optically denser medium at its boundary with an optically less dense medium

focal length, principal axis, optical centre , focal point and focal plane
Applications: magnifying glass, projector, camera and spectacle lenses
Chapter 13: Sound
-
-
-
Pitch is related to the frequency of sound wave - higher the frequency, the higher the pitch
Loudness is related to the amplitude of a sound wave - the larger the amplitude, the louder the sound
