Haemolytic
anemia
DEFINATION
Is abnormal breaking down of the RBC
Develops in the bone marrow .
bone marrow cannot replace the destroyed RBC.
CLINICAL MANIFESTATIONS
Fatigue
Lassistute
Pallor and dizziness
DIAGNOSTIC PURPOSE
Decreased Hb and Hct
Increased level of serum bilirubin
Increased urobilinogen in urine and feaces
Bone marrow aspiration
Sickling's test that is positive
NURSING INTERVENTION
Administer sodium bicarbonate or sodium lactate
Splenectomy may be done
Increase fluid intake to flush the kidneys
Treat the main cause
CUASES
Inherited sickle cell anemia and thalasemia
Stressors such as drugs,
Infection
PHARMACOLOGY
Blood transfusion
Blood and marrow stem transplant
Corticosteroids medicine such as prednisone
Rituximab and cyclosporine should be prescribed
PATHOPHYSIOLOGY
RBC and HGB, that is the part of the red blood cell
Oxygenation is decreased
There is a damage to some organ system
pH is altered
Lack of HGB leads to less oxygen
that binds oxygen to the blood
