Halide Tests
Add acidified silver nitrate (the acidified part is important – it reacts with any other ions which could also give a precipitate)

Tests For Water
Add anhydrous copper sulphate and if the anhydrous copper sulphate turns blue, there is water present.

This also includes water of crystallisation, as the water would be chemically combined in the crystal structure (salt).
