-This lecture introduces the four key steps to which divergent thinking can be reduced: ideational fluency (the ability to produce many ideas), ideational flexibility (generating a variety of ideas), originality (generating fresh and unique ideas), and elaboration (learning to extend and expand ideas). The first two of these steps are evident in this brainstorm from the absolute number of solutions produced(20+), and the various subcategories of the ideas (main branches in the brainstorm).2)Berger, W. -This reading emphasizes the importance of avoiding words like 'can' or 'should' when questioning companies, instead relying on the word 'might' in order to defer judgment, help people create options more freely, and open more possibilities. According to Tim brown, the CEO of IDEO says that's the 'might' part of a question says that we can put ideas out there that may or may not work. In deliberately using this word in each of the subcategories of my brainstorm I was able o prompt unapologetic idea generation that did not worry about being perfect from the get-go.
