Social identity theory places an emphasis on students value systems. Behaviours that are negatively affects a students chance of success in school are explained through their maintenance of their positive social identity in the face of low academic status.

There are some strategies that the low academic status groups can do: individual mobility; social creativity and direct competition

Another measure of engangement taht is specific for NTU is their dashboard. Get their dashboard score and see if there is a correlation between the score and the student engangment scale. Finally, ask students what they think engangment means to them.
