Tetanospasmin: causes clinical tetanus. Travels along axons and interferes with neurotransmitter release, increasing neurone firing and causing muscle contraction and spasm

Inoculation through skin with clostridium tetani spores from stepping on a nail, dirty wounds etc

Inoculation is through skin with saliva of rabid animal via bites, licks, splash
Once symptomatic, it is invariably fatal - 99.9% die
