ISSUE OF ETHICS OF CARE
1) Not all relationship have value, not all would generate duties of care: (not oblige to maintain these relationship)
- attempt to oppress/ harm others
- characterised by hatred, violence, disrespect
- characterised by injustice. exploitation
- in Muslim perspective, be good even to the enemies (Salahuddin Al-Ayubi - Richard the lion heart)
2) recognise the demand of caring are sometime in conflict with the demands of justice
- example: AMY as the manager of ABC company, gives a job to her relatives although there are better qualified person who is fit to the position
CRITICISM
-
demand can lead to "burn-out" (stress)
- people sacrifice their own needs too care for others
- ADVANTAGE
- focus on moral value
- being partial towards those concrete person
- especially with whom we have special relationship
