This short-story is about the stranger case of M. Valdemar, a pretty cultured-man who agreed to participated in a mesmerism while he las dying because of his psthisis. The trance has worked well and the hynotist (who is the story teller) could stablish an stranger dialogue with M. Valdemar, who continued to die. He has been dying for more than 7 years an continue saying he did not want to be woken up due to he felts comfortable and fairly quiet. However the doctors, familiars an the hyptotist decided it is time to let him pass away. That's why they ended the trance and after some hours of suffering, M. Valdemar becomes in a liquid mass of putridity.
