Habitat Loss
Roads
Urban Sprawl
Overpopulation
Overpopulation can cause habitat loss because of human population growing. When the human population grows, more space is needed. The space that we get is what animals need.
Deforestation
Buildings
Roads, Buildings, Urban Sprawl, and Deforestation, can all cause Habitat loss which is very harmful to our environment. Without habitats, there are no animals. Without animals, the environment is unstable, and very unhealthy.
Invasive Species
Zebra Musslels
Water Milfoil
Asian Beetles
Buckthorn
These are all examples of Invasive species. Invasive species invade areas or organisms for shelter or food. They cause disruption, and damage in ecosystems, and loss of biodiversity.
Sustainable Use
Natural resources that are used to preserve the future. This helps biodiversity
Pollution
Air pollution is chemical substances and particles in the air that are unhealthy to an environment.
Caused by human activities.
Burning fossil fuels
Global climate change is caused by burning fossil fuels from carbon.
Global climate change raidiates heat back to earth's surface.
This results in cold places becoming warmer, and harming arctic animals.
Sea level rises, and glaciers melt.
Coastal flooding, and shoreline erosion
Human health problems
Changes percipitation patterns
increases storms
kills crops
Acid rain is caused by air pollution.
Rain that has been effected by air pollution to become acidic
Damages soil
Kills trees
Pollutes water
When water is polluted, our number one water source is effected, and so is ocean life.
Polluted water causes biomagnification.
Water is polluted, then the producer's food is polluted, then the predator eats the producer which is polluted , etc... Every time the pollution gets eaten, it grows more and more.
Air Pollution
Overexploitation
Overexploitation is too many animals being hunted by humans. It leads to animal extinction.
An example of Overexploitation is sharks. About 100 million sharks are killed a year because of human interaction. Most reasons are for Shark fin soup. People catch sharks, cut their fins off while they are alive, and throw them back into the ocean to die.
