Cuban missile crisis.
what happend:
Fidel castro took over in Cuba as president, him and the USA did not get along and the UK shunned him.
he went to the USSR for help which lead to him saying he was turning to communism.
the Americans tried to train Cuban exiles to launch an attack on Fidel castro. it didn't work as there was not enough of them and they got easily defeated.
the USSR then started to put nuclear war heads and missiles in Cuba which an american U2 spy plane was able to get a picture off.
president Kennedy addressed the population of the USA and told them about the nuclear weapons.
the USA then quarantined Cuba with naval ships stopping all ships entering Cuba and which stopped longer range nuclear weapons from getting to Cuba.
all the nuclear weapons were taken out of Cuba and all american nuclear weapons were taken out of turkey.
