my first impression or thought is why did Edna St. Vincent Millay write the poem and what was the author through at that time? I'm not sure if I really like the poem.

I selected this poem because the poem seemed interesting and appealing to the eye.

The poems' title tells' me a lot about the poem like when people travel it takes them miles, and it might be about traveling on a train.

In the poem, one of the themes in Edna St. Vincent Millay's "Travel" is the imagination to step in as a substitute (and its failure sometimes to fulfill). And since travel is somehow denied to the speaker, their imagination must conjure up dreams of travel to settle the tension.

the Poet was born in Rockland, Maine, on February 22, 1892. Her mothers' name is Cora she raised her three daughters on her own. Cora encouraged her girls to be ambitious and self-sufficient, teaching them an appreciation of music and literature from an early age.
