Personality - comes from latin 'persona'; includes all those relatively permanent traits or characteristics that render some consistency to a person's behaviour
Traits - contribute to individual differences in behaviour, consistency of behaviour over time, and stability of behaviour across situations. Pattern is different for each individual.
Characteristics - unique qualities of an individual including attributes of temperament, physique and intelligence.
THEORY: a set of related assumptions that allows scientists to use logical deductive reasoning to formulate testable hypotheses.
