positive feedback: this mechanisms enhances or amplifies the effect of a process
ex) Oxycontin, a hormone, increases the amount of contractions a woman has when giving birth through positive feedback.
negative feedback: this mechanism reduces response to a stimulus or process (bring the body back to normal)
ex) Maintaining your body temperature is an example of negative feedback.
absorption:the act or process of bringing material into the cells and tissues
ex) During digestion, nutrients are absorbed into the blood stream from the small intestine.
excretion: the process by which waste products are eliminated from the body
ex) The kidneys help filter water from the body to be excreted.
stimuli (stimulus): a thing or event that evokes a specific functional reaction in an organ or tissue
ex) A stimulus can be something you see, hear, feel, or smell.
