Listening for the main ideas
Adding stars next to things your professor says is important to know
Paying close attention to the terms and definitions
Actively Listening by asking questions for clarification when needed
Work Smarter
Leave blank spaces so you can add notes to previous covered material
Skim through the lesson before class to be better prepared
Using abbreavations while taking notes (including a key if needed)
Review your notes within 2 days of taking them
Listen Critically
Listen to process and evaluate the information
The devil is in the details, make sure to be able to recognize facts Vs opinions
Look at the larger picture and ask yourself how can you relate the new information to the information you have already learned
Minimize in class distractions
Avoid sitting near people who want to talk instead of listening to the lecture being given
Turn your phone and any other electronic devices off and put them away for the duration of the class
