why did you select this poem?
I selected this poem because I thought it was interesting and full of figurative language
what does the tittle tell you about the poem?
the tittle tells me that the poem is going to talk about why birds sing in cages
what is your first impression of the poem?
I thought the poem was going to be cheerful and happy but it was the opposite it was sad and depressing

the poem is about a caged bird and why it sings inside the cage to feel free. The theme is that you should not cage living things

the tone is negative because it is talking about a caged bird and how he suffers so the bird needs to sing so he can fell a little better Ev"a bird that stalks down his narrow cage ………...his wings are clipped and his feet are tied so e opens his throat to sing" the Author also says that all the bird dreams are gone because he is in a cage "but a caged BIRD stands on the grave of dreams
