Public services are often offered through hospital programs or children's treatment centres. Although children with CP are often flagged at birth and will, therefore, have less waiting time to be initially seen by theses services than children with other conditions, there is often very little service that can actually be provided. Children will be seen for blocks of therapy (typically 1 visit a week, which will last approximately 4-8 weeks) and will then have to wait 2-3 months before they are seen again. Some services provide additional camps or programs that are beneficial, but in general, public service alone does not provide enough support to children with CP, and additional resources should be sought after.
