immortality of the soul
most Christians believe that the soul is non - material and immortal as after death it will go to live with God
based on the belief that after his
ascension, Jesus became a spirit and went to the spirit world

Evangelical Protestants - believe in the resurrection of the body after death as the soul will stay in the grave until the Last Day when Jesus will return to earth to declare the end of the world. On this day the dead will be raised as Jesus will resurrect the bodies and will join the living, then everyone will be judged and God will separate the good from the bad. The good will go to heaven and the bad will ho to hell
Liberal Protestants - believe in the immortality of the soul which is the theory that after death the body dies, but the soul goes to a spiritual world. They believe that all souls will be given a second opportunity to make it into heaven. Some believe that hell is not a real place and some believe that there is no hell at all
Catholic Christians - believe in life after death and that the good will go to heaven and the bad will go to hell and those with unforgiven sins will go to purgatory where they will purified from their sins. They also believe that at the end of the world all souls will be raised and that the souls from purgatory will join the souls in heaven and that the souls in hell will return there.
