Formative
Definition: Formative assessment is a way of assessing students to get feedback to use for modifying and adjusting instruction. These assessments are low stakes, so they have little to no grade value.
Exit Slip: Student will answer a question from the unit before exiting the classroom.The student could also list 3 things they learned, 2 things they found interesting, and 1 thing they still would like to know.
Round Robin Charts: Students pass a chart around and each right down an answer to an open ended question. Student may also write down information that they have learned about towards the topic.
Summative
Definition: Summative assessments are used to evaluate student learning at the end of a unit. These are usually high stakes, so they have a high grade value.

Definition: Interim/Benchmark assessments are used to see where students are in their learning and determine if they are on track with their learning to do well on future assessments.

Definition: A performance assessment is an assessment that requires students to perform a task rather than a regular test or answering questions.
Retelling-Act it out: Acting can be a form of assessment to assess a students reading comprehension. Student will act out a story by retelling.
