SOLIDWORKS
FEA
FEA is useful in testing how a product design reacts to physical effects including bending, heat, vibration, fluid flow, and other impacts.
FEA allows you to evaluate designs early in the design cycle, determine what will cause premature failures, explore design changes to reduce cost and weight, and determine the product's factor of safety.
- Create a study defining its analysis type and operations.
- Define parameters of the study.
- Define material properties.
- Specify restraints and loads.
- Define component contact and contact sets.
- Mesh the model to divide the model into many small pieces called elements.

Modeling
In solidworks, you can create parts by combining features. Features are of two types: sketch-based and places.
You create a sketch-based feature by drawing a sketch and extruding, revolving, sweeping along a path, or lofting it.
You create placed feature by simply placing them onto an existing feature. Examples of placed features are fillets, chamfers, drafts, holes, and so on.
Assembly
You can build complex assemblies consisting of many components, which can be parts or other assemblies, called sub-assemblies. There are two ways to create an assembly model: top-down and bottom-up.
In top-down approach, you start the assembly document and then construct components in it.
In bottom-up approach, you create the components and then add them to the assembly document.
An exploded view shows an assembly's components spread out, but positioned to show how they fit together when assembled.

Drawings
You can create 2D drawings of the 3D solid parts and assemblies you design. Parts, assemblies, and drawings are linked documents; any changes made to the part or assembly change the drawing document.
Sheet metal modeling
Sheet metal fabrication in solidworks allows you to produce a vast range of sheet metal part designs.Using the sheet metal tools allow you to:
-
Create sheet metal models directly from solidworks 3D models or imported CAD models and automatically input your own bend radius, thickness, and K-factor.
-
