Society
There were four occupations in Ming society and they were: Shi, Nong, Gong, and Shang.
Shi: considered to be as an elite class of people, who had the privileged to ride in command battles, highly respected in society, represented wisdom and education
Nong: peasant farmers, considered the producers of food which sustained the empire, vital and productive social class in the Ming Dynasty
Gong: artisans and craftsmen, worked similarly to farmers. Either employed by the government or worked privately.
Shang: merchants and traders, only traded goods created by the Nong and Gong. Thought of as greedy and selfish.
Politics
Nearly three centuries of peace, China almost doubled their population to 160 million
