Bacterial Cells
-
-
Chromosomal loop
Chromosomal DNA (one long circular chromosome)which controls cell's activities and replication. Floats free in cytoplasm
-
Flagellum
Used to move bacteria away from harmful substances like toxins and towards helpful things (e.g.nutrients and oxygen)
-
Ribosomes
Involved in protein synthesis(making of proteins), the second stage takes place here (translation)
-
Specialised cells
Examples:
Female gamete: Egg cell
-
Adaptations
Straight after fertilisation, its membrane changes structure to stop more sperm getting in. This makes sure the offspring ends up with the right amount of DNA
-
-
-
Male gamete: Sperm cells
-
Adaptations:
-
Acromosome at front of head where it stores enzymes needed to digest its way through the membrane of the egg cell
Lots of mitochondria in middle section to provide energy (for respiration) needed to swim the distance
-
-
-
-
Animal and plant cells
Plant cells
-
-
Large vacuole
-
-
Contains cell sap, a weak solution of sugar and salts
-
Animal cells
-
-
Nucleus
-
Contains genes which carry inherited info, stored in code, using DNA molecules.
