COPD

"Chronic slow progression. Airflow obstruction unchanged for months. Some emphysema and chronic bronchitis
-
Neutrophils, no airway hyperreactivity, no response to bronchodilators or corticosteroids.
Pathophysiology
Reduced radial traction and intraluminal pressure (Alevolar pressure = pleural P + elastic recoil.) R inversely proportional to radius 4
S1, 80% FEV, S2 50-79%, S3, 30-49%, S4, <30%

Bronchiectasis
Result of chronic inflammation compounded by an inability to clear mucoid secretions. Inflammation leads to destruction of lung architecture.
Bronchial dilatation, recurrent infections, purulent sputum.
