Body systems
Skeletal system
-
Diseases associated
-
-
Metabolic bone disease: a group of conditions that affect bone strength or integrity. They can be due to things such as a deficiency in vitamin D/ loss of bone mass.
how to care for: Eat healthily and get plenty of exercises. Exercise should include heavier weight-bearing activities. Also, consume more calcium.
Major function: supports body structure, movement, protection of vital organs, blood cell production, calcium storage.
Endocrine system
-
-
how to care for: Stay at a healthy weight. Eat healthy foods and get plenty of exercise. Consume more Iodine so that you can avoid thyroid problems
diseases associated
Cushing's Disease- overproduction of the adrenal hormones which causes a round face, humped upper back, thin & easily bruised skin, as well as fragile bones.
-
Diabetes Mellitus- a disorder in which the pancreas produces too little or no insulin, resulting in high blood glucose levels.
respitory system
-
-
diseases
-
Lung Cancer: DNA mutations in the lungs cause irregular cells to multiply and create an uncontrolled growth of abnormal cells, or a tumor. These tumors interfere with the regular functions of the lungs.
-
how to care for: Do cardio heavy workouts. The intensity will force lungs to be able to handle proper functions with less oxygen flowing
Digestive system
how to care for: eat high in fiber, eat low fat foods, and eat on schedule
Diseases
celiac sprue: cannot tolerate gluten, a protein constituent of wheat, barley, malt, and rye flours.
Esophageal : the abnormal growth of cells in the esophagus, the muscular tube connecting the oral cavity with the stomach.
Jaundice: excess accumulation of bile pigments in the bloodstream and bodily tissues. may cause various skin discolorations
Major Function: break food down into chyme for the body's use, to secrete and absorb nutrients and bodily fluids into the gastrointestinal tract or the blood, and to store and eliminate waste.
-
Nervous system
Major function: To collect sensory input from the body and the external environment. To process and interpret the sensory input. To respond appropriately to the sensory input.
-
diseases associated
Alzheimer's disease: affects brain functions, memory, and behavior.
-
Epilepsy: long-term brain condition where a person has repeated/ spontaneous seizures. They can be triggered by flashing lights for some
-
Muscular system
Major function: Stabilizing joints, Maintaining posture, Producing movement, Moving substances within the body, Stabilizing body position and regulating organ volume, Producing heat– muscle contraction generates 85% of the body’s heat
-
-
How to care for: Do various stretches across body. Hydrate yourself to avoid cramps and other pains.

These two combined allow the body to physically stand up. It ensures that it can hold itself in various positions. Allows for movement
The skeletal system protects the lungs of the respiratory system. respiratory system gives oxygen to bones to function. Removes CO2 as a waste product from bones
Respiratory system provides oxygen for blood to carry. Circulatory system carries oxygen to parts of the body. It also carries used oxygen back to lungs to exhale.
Muscular system is apart of the circulatory system in that the heart is a muscle. The circulatory system carries blood and oxygen to the muscles. The muscle use the blood and get it sent back to the heart
Receptors in the muscles tell the brain where the body is. The nervous system gives the muscles orders of how to move and where to move. Nervous system also regulates how fast the muscles allow food to pass.
The muscles in the body also help control the flow of food in the body. The digestive system breaks down food to be carried to the muscular system. The muscular system burns and uses the food in order to create heat and movement.
The endocrine system creates hormones that are to be carried around the body. The cardiovascular system takes the hormones and transports them. gland create chemical that are released directly to the blood.
