Skin Gene Therapy
Development
For the past decade, there have been many theories suggesting that in the future, skin gene therapy may or will be able to treat diseases such as type-2 diabetes, obesity, protect consumers of cocaine from becoming addicted or continuously increasing their dosage.
The use of skin gene therapy to treat various diseases is a much more effective, long-term safe option and cost efficient method oppose to the use of drugs/medication.
Various laboratory mice have been used for further research on skin gene therapy and lethal cocaine doses. This research in Chicago has produced successful results.
There are many procedures which different people take to treat RDEB however, Amryt's gene therapy uses no viral vectors for delivering the gene to treat RDEB.

Influence
In the future, skin gene therapy may be able to treat obesity, recessive dystrophic epidermolysis bullosa (RDEB) and prevent humans who are addicted or tempted to consume lethal doses of cocaine.
Skin gene therapy has opened new doors in science in research of different areas which skin gene therapy can be applied to and implemented in alternative treatments.
