Crushing the revolt
By January 157, the lack of news on the promised parliament was causing growing concern among the Pilgrims. Because of this, two small, unco-ordinated uprisings took place, one aimed at capturing Hull, the other Carlisle. While both quickly fizzled out, they provided Henry with the excuse he needed to punish the Pilgrims. He ordered Norfolk to round up the Pilgrim ringleaders and execute them.
