Module 34
Cognition- all the mental activities associated with thinking, knowing, remembering, and communicating

Concept- A mental grouping of similar objects events, ideas or people

Conformation Bias- A tendency to search for info that supports our preconceptions and to ignore or distort contradictory evidence

Intuition- An effortless, immediate, automatic feeling or thought, as contrasted with explicit, conscious reasoning
Heuristic- A simple thinking strategy that often allows us to make judgments and solve problems efficiently
Availability heuristic- Estimating the likely hood of events based on their availability in memory; if instances come readily to mind
Algorithm- A methodical, logical rule o procedure that guarantees solving a particular problem
Overconfidence- The tendency to be more confident than correct to over estimate the accuracy of our beliefs and judgments
Framing- The way an issue is pose; how an issue is worded can significantly affect decisions and judgments

Grammar- In a language, a system of rules that lets us understand one another
one-word stage- The stage in speech development, from ages 1 to 2, during which a child speaks mostly single words
Morpheme- In a language, the smallest unit that carries meaning
Aphasia- impairment of language, usually caused by left hemisphere damage either to Broca's area or Wernicke's area
Phonme- In a language, the smallest distinctive sound unit

Critical periods are a period in an infants life where they absorb the most knowledge, the reason that you absorb so much is because as a child you really don't know anything at all other than your mother, so this period is the time in which you star to pick up things and become a part of society
People who have one less sense (deaf people for example) could have all their other senses be more powerful than someone who has hearing as a sense, its your bodies way of adapting
