Why does Digital literacy matter for online learning?
A certain degree of digital literacy is a precondition for online learning.
Online education has a large potential to for educational activities within and across academic institutions.
Digital literacy is necessary in online learning so that the student is able to navigate through a online course.
Is that concept still relevant today considering the rapid rate of technological change and how we have adapted to it?
The concept is still very relevant precisely because of the rapid change of technology and continuous adaptation.
It has become difficult to isolate literacy from digital literacy now that all sorts of digital devices are replacing pen and paper as the preferred medium of communication.
Digital literacy needs to be constantly updated as a result of technological change.

Digital literacy does not replace traditional forms of literacy, instead they build upon the skills that form the foundation of traditional forms of literacy.
Digital literacy is constantly changing because the digital society is constantly changing.
