WWI Causes
Militarism
The war started mainly because of four aspects: Militarism, Friendly partnerships, when kings and queens try to push their rule as far as possible and believing that your country is the best.
This is because big armies become possible threats to other countries, other countries started forcing friendly partnerships in order to secure land.
-
Militarism represented a rise in military expense, an increase in military and naval forces, more influence of the military men upon the policies of the (non-military related) government.
Nationalism
Nationalism is extreme pride for one's country, especially marked by a feeling of superiority over the other countries.
Pan-Slavism was a belief that Slavic people should have their own nation. Pan-Slavism opposed to the Austro-Hungarian Empire and how they controlled the region. The "Black Hand" group hoped to drive Austria-Hungary from the Balkans and create a unified state for all Slavic people. This led to the assassination of Ferdinand. This event also led to WWI.
Many countries believed in nationalism such as France, Germany, Italy, etc...
These countries that believed in nationalism caused WWI because they thought they were superior. It caused conflict between the countries and that led to war.
If one country thinks they are better than the other, the other country will also think they are better than the other. This will cause arguments and led to war.
Alliances
An Alliance is a political, military or economic agreement, negotiated and signed by two or more nations.
Alliances helped cause the World War because if one member of an alliance had a conflict with another nation then the conflict would quickly escalate.
For Example: The Treaty of London:this multi-lateral treaty acknowledged the existence of Belgium as an independent and neutral state. Several of Europe’s great powers, including Great Britain and Prussia, were members to this treaty, so when German troops invaded Belgium in August 1914, the British considered it a violation of the treaty
Financial Alliance: A financial alliance was an alliance were on nation in the alliance would supply the other nation with money if they need to.
