Early Years STEAM
PROCESS
- Separately introduce and build basic skills that will be needed for a STEAM project
Technology exposure
Start with open, free interaction with technology. Give challenges/goals for students who are ready, though accept if some students are completely 'off task' and instead just freely play with the technology
-
Open a text editor on a desktop computer. Give students challenge to type out entire alphabet for a 'prize' and accept if some students are amused just by hitting all the buttons at once
-
Collaboration projects
activities that require children to share, work together, and build team work
Start with play-based activities, build the social-emotional aspects
-
English, Math objectives
Hold traditional English, Math classes to introduce objectives that will later on be incorporated in application of STEAM projects
- Initial introduction of concepts within a STEAM project
-
Considerations
-
-
