The mechanism of action of loteprednol is as a corticosteroid hormone receptor agonist. It a topical corticoid anti-inflammatory. corticosteroid inhibit response to a variety of inciting agents and may delay slow healing. they inhibit the oedema, fibrin deposition, capillary dilation, leucocyte migration, capillary proliferation, fibroblast inflammation. there is no generally accepted explanation for mechanism of action of the ocular corticosteroid.. therefore corticosteroid are thought to act by the induction of phospholipase A2 inhibitory protein and it called lipocortins.
