There is a similar overlap/sentiment between both fields sometimes. In design school, we are told to "think outside the box", to innovate and create ideas, products, or projects that challenge social, societal, political, etc. norms or solve a problem for a community and the like. Often, the success of a startup is precisely like this, and one could argue that the ideas are worth even more than the actual product. Oftentimes in both cases, however, the originality that is promoted is little more than a boastful expansion of already existing ideas, or the project does not fully address all the issues relevant to the issue.
