What is your opinion about the issue, and what caused you to form that opinion
My opinion was formed based on a statement that was made during the program. He encountered a terrorist, but, he says, “As I got closer, I just hit him with the butt of the rifle in the face.”
My opinion is that the contributor's account was a complete fabrication of the actual truth and he was looking to secure his next security contract.
How could using a balance in research and reporting tactics have made a difference in the outcome of what was reported

Look to secure surveillance footage, if any, of the attack to provide an accurate account of the events that transpired.
Play devils advocate, what opposing view could be expressed
There is a conspiracy being perpetrated by the government and the news outlet was trying to uncover what really happened.
