Cholinergic ,adrenergic and CNS stimulants
**BETHANECHOL
Mechanism of action :stimulates parasympathetic receptors to increase bladder muscle tone ,which in turn causes contraindication and stimulate micturition
-
contraindications:hyperthyrodism, hyperdensitivity ,peptic ulcer ,hypotension and epilepsy
side effects :hypotension, bradycardia,,abdominal cramps, diarrhoea and flyshing
-
-
TENSILON
mechanism of action :works by prolonging the action of acetylocholine ,by inhibiting the action of acetycholinesterase
-
contraindications:pregnancy ,peptic ulcer ,hyperthyrodism,GI obstruction and labour
side effects :slow heart beat, version problem, seizures ,trouble speaking or swallowing ,cough and shortness of breath
-
-
NEOSTIGMINE
-
-
Contraindications:sinus bradycardia ,asthma ,abnormal heart rythm ,overreactive thyroid gland
Side effects :salivation ,increased mucus, muscle twitch ,nausea and vomiting ,diarrhoea
-
-
PYRIDOSTIGMINE
Mechanism of action :inhibits acetylocholinesterase in synaptic cleft thus lowing down the hydrolsis of acetycholine
contraindications:asthma ,kidney disease, urinary tract infection ,stomach or intestine blockage
-
Side effects :stomach pain ,nausea and vomiting ,diarrhoea, rash ,muscle twitch ,cough and blurred vision
-
-
DONEPEZIL
Mechanism of action :exert it therapeutic effect by enhancing cholinergic function .this is accomplished by increasiing contentration of acetycholine through reversible inhibition of its hydrolsis
-
-
Side effects :cardiovascular conditions, nausea ,weight loss, peptic ulcer ,pilmonary conditions
