Eye Anatomy
Layers of the eye
-
Choroid: Middle and vascular layer of the eye. It is black so light is absorbed and not scattered. Provides nourishment for other layers
-
-
Retina: Deepest layer. Photoreceptors are found here. All axons of nerves converge in the back of the eye behind to form the optic nerve.
-
Segments of eye
Anterior: Divided into two chambers. Full of aqueous humor which nourishes the lens and cornea and maintains pressure.
-
-
Posterior Segment: Filled with vitreous humor, which is a transparent viscous liquid that maintains pressure and helps support the retina and lens.
