Pigmented terminal hairs replaced by smaller, shorter, less pigmented hairs
Miniturisation of the follicle wit each hair cycle, with more hairs in resting (telogen) phase than anagen (growth) phase
Latency between telogen and anagen becomes longer, causing hair thinning
Hair becomes shorter, easier shed, and thinner
