Mechanism of action
Menotropins contain follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) and luteinizing hormone (LH) ,For induction of ovulation and assisted reproductive technologies
Menotropins prepare the ovarian follicle for ovulation. The combination of FSH and LH stimulates follicular growth and maturation.
Indications
Ejaculatory disyfunction
Endometriosis, Male subfertility
Cervical factor,mmunologic infertility
Unexplained infertility
Nursing considerations
Contraindications
Cancer of uterus and ovary
Torsion of Ovary,
Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome
Ovarian Enlargement Usually due to Infertility Treatment
Side effects
headache,mild stomach pain
injection site reactions (redness, pain, swelling, or irritation)
ovarian enlargement (abdominal or pelvic pain, tenderness, pressure, or swelling)
*Administration
Menotropins are adminstered subcutaneously in the abdomen.
Storage
Store the medication refrigerated or at room temperature between 37-77 degrees F (3-25 degrees C).
Protect from light.
Do not freeze.
