Trade Name:Allergen Prefrin Liquifilm (Ophthalmic) Generic:phenylephrine hydrochloride
Mechanism of Action
Phenylephrine hydrochloride, a synthetic sympathomimetic agent, is a powerful post-synaptic alpha-receptor agonist with minimal effect on the beta-receptors of the heart. It exhibits a rapid and moderately extended vasoconstrictor and mydriatic action. Its action in the heart includes elevation of the heart rate and reduction of cardiac output .
Nursing Consideration
Storage
Do not store above 25C. Keep bottle tightly closed when not in use. Do not use for more than 30 days after first opening
Contra Indications
Do not use If you have narrow angle glaucoma;.
Not to be used if you are hypersensitive (allergic) to phenylephrine hydrochloride or any of the other ingredients of PREFRIN Liquifilm;
Not to be used while you wearing soft contact lenses.
Side Effects
Allergic reaction, including signs of eye allergy and skin allergy
Enlarged pupils, dry eye, eye discharge, eye irritation, eye pain, itchy eyes, increased tearing,
redness of the eye, blurred vision
