ETIOLOGY
Tetanus: neuromuscular disorder caused by wound exposure to a toxin produced by Clostridium tetani., which is an aerobic bacterium found in the soil. This tetanus blocks the inhibitory motor and autonomic neurons in the spinal cord, resulting in intense muscle spasms/rigidity as well as sympathetic overactivity.

*Can be seen in those with illicit drug use at site of wound or a necrotic/anaerobic infection, does NOT affect sensory neurons- pt remains fully aware/conscious,
