Meteorites
Solar system full of debris believed to be remnants of a planet that existed between orbits of Mars and Jupiter
When small pieces of this debris collide with the Earth they burn up in the atmosphere creating fiery streaks called shooting stars or meteors
Close resemblance between rocky meteorites and Perdiotite demonstrates the planet had a mantle similar in composition to the Earths
-
Therefore it is a reasonable assumption to suggest that the iron and nickel were derived from the core and are comparable in composition to the Inner Core
Analysis revealed 2 main types- 1) Rocky meteorites composed of rock similar to mantle Peridotite 2) Iron and nickel meteors

The existence is evidence that the outer core must be composed of molten iron, which due to movement creates electromagnetic energy

Gravity
By calibrating seismic wave velocities in rocks of known physical properties, we can suggest densities for the various layers of the Earth's interior, taking into account expected conditions of temperature and pressure
The gravitational attraction between 2 bodies depends on their respective masses and the square of the distance between them
The value of gravity itself cannot be used to identify a particular rock type because too many variables are involved
